In the Porto Alegre region in the city of Viamão, a project was founded among young people. The project is called STARTEEN, which is based on the words "start" and "teen" for teenagers.
The missionary couple Cassiano and Larissa Batista initially met with 5 teenagers. Little by little, the number grew to 20. But they see themselves not just as a group of young people or friends, but as a family. A family with cohesion and that Jesus connects. Many of the young people live in dysfunctional families and are now finally finding support in the community and love of our Lord. We are very happy that such young people are being given hope and are therefore very happy to support this project. We hope that many more young people will join and that the work there will continue to grow. In December 2023, 7 teenagers from this group were baptized. The special thing about it is that only one comes from a Christian home, the other 6 come from non-believing families, some of whom live under very difficult conditions. We hope that not only the young people now live in hope, but that they also bring the light into their families.
