OBRAMIS.

In the cities of Tucunduva and Santo Ângelo, missionary Johann Schorr and his wife Frida have been working in the slums for many years, bringing the poorest of the poor children into a better future by not only offering them a warm meal, but also helping them with their homework, teaching them to read and write, handicrafts, housework and gardening. Last but not least, these children are also introduced to the love of Jesus, which they then pass on to their parents, some of whom live in the worst conditions.

This work has brought about such strong social changes in the slums of these cities, so that crime rates have fallen significantly and people can move around safely. It is the visible change through the power of God.

We would like to continue to strongly support this work, which is now led in Tucunduva by Abel Schorr, son of Johann and Frida, so that even more children and people come into contact with the liberating message of Jesus and can live a new life in harmony and freedom. The work is carried out by OBRAMIS - Obra Missionária Siloé (Siloah Mission), founded in 1977 by missionary Horst Krüger.

We support the project in Tucunduva financially through a partnership with the Velbert Mission.

The project in Santo Ângelo and the work of Johann and Frida Schorr are supported financially directly by our mission.

OBRAMIS' projects are:

Early Childhood Education School Crescer (Growing) for children aged 0 to 5. The school strives to educate children for life and therefore always strives to make the school a place where children are respected above all else. Respected in their right to enjoy their childhood to the fullest; respected in their abilities, in their desire to discover and learn about the world around them; respected in their rhythm, without being rushed or held back in their quest to build relationships with people and objects of knowledge.
Learning and Growing for children aged 6 to 16. It aims to develop teaching activities aimed at social integration and promoting entrepreneurship for children and young people and families in situations of social vulnerability. It monitors the development of children and young people, offers help with school activities, encourages the awakening of creativity, the development of personality and imagination and helps to provide support in physical, emotional, spiritual and social aspects.
New steps to help children through creative and dynamic activities that enable intellectual growth, team learning, greater sensitivity, increased self-esteem, professional initiation and affective youth leadership through practical action.
