Church Mission.

The roots of the CNIC - the Convenção Nacional das Igrejas de Cristo (National Congress of the Churches of Christ) - go back to the year 1900. At that time, numerous Christians from the German-Russian Brethren congregations came to southern Brazil and settled in the dense jungles around Santa Rosa and Santo Ângelo.

Soon after, the first congregations were established. Baptist congregations of the Swedish Örebro Mission were founded in Linha Machado and Linha Dr. Pederneiras, which were actively supported by their missionaries. In 1934, the year the first congregation of Christ was founded, the Bethel Baptist congregation already existed in Linha Dr. Pederneiras.

Between 1965 and 1986, missionary Horst Krüger worked as pastor of this congregation. From 1976 onwards, more missionaries joined: Olaf Smolich, Peter and Gisela Pelzer, Heinrich and Carola Guderian, Bernhard and Ruth Neußer, Johan Schorr, Gerhard Janocha and Thomas and Ruth Halstenberg. Together they did pioneering work and supported countless church plantings in the northwest of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Today, the work extends across the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná and has had a lasting impact on many regions.

We support this valuable work financially by providing help where it is most urgently needed. This support is diverse and extends to the very personal fates of people who are severely affected by illness or poverty.

It fills us with joy to see how this work is growing and people in rural areas, in cities and even in the slums of large and small cities are being reached. Many find their way out of their social, emotional and spiritual hardships into a life full of hope and new perspectives through a profound encounter with God and His infinite love.
